The duality of the human soul is set to be explored in a chilling masterpiece of transformation as Brother Wolf brings its award-winning production of Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde to Newbury.
On Friday 6 March 2026, the Arlington Arts Centre will host this intense one-man show, which has garnered five-star reviews and multiple accolades, including the 2025 Pink Prince Theatre Review Actor of the Year for performer James Hyland.
During a final, desperate lecture on the duality of humankind, the respectable Dr Jekyll reveals the shocking truth of his association with the mysterious Edward Hyde.
This adaptation, based on the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson, suggests that Hyde is more than just a criminal; he is the very definition of fundamental evil. The production combines edge-of-your-seat thrills with stunning physical theatre to breathe new life into the classic “bogey tale.”
Directed by Phil Lowe with music by Chris Warner, the show has been described by critics as a masterful display of gothic horror.
Performer James Hyland, who also adapted the script, has been hailed as a genius for his extraordinary ability to inhabit both roles in a truly magnificent display of stagecraft.
