Monty Don is one of Britain’s best-loved gardeners, and he is coming to Reading.
The brand-new show celebrates his landmark book and BBC Two series, Monty Don’s British Gardens.
Using a blend of beautiful imagery and personal stories, the evening explores the landscapes and tales that reveal the British identity through the gardens we create.
After years spent travelling the world to explore horticultural traditions in Japan, America, Italy, and the Mediterranean, Monty is now turning his focus homeward.
From the northern tip of Scotland to the Cornish coast, he uncovers the ingenuity and enduring connection to the natural world that defines Britain as a nation.
A celebration of British landscapes
The show takes audiences on a journey through some of the country’s most significant green spaces. Monty will share insights from Alnwick Gardens and Beatrix Potter’s Lake District farmhouse to the rewilded walled garden at Knepp. The performance celebrates the beauty, creativity, and diversity found beneath our feet.
Described as warm and wise, the evening invites the audience to reflect on the gardens that have shaped our collective story.
This is an opportunity to hear from a master of his craft as he discusses the ways we continue to find ourselves in the soil of Britain.
