The John McCusker Trio will headline the upcoming Nettlebed folk Club on Monday 8 June, bringing together three of the most decorated and sought-after talents on the UK folk circuit.

The John McCusker Trio tour, featuring band members Toby Shaer, John McCusker, and Sam Kelly, is coming to Nettlebed Folk Club

Led by multi-award-winning fiddle player, producer, and composer John McCusker, the performance at The Village Club will showcase a career spanning more than three decades at the heart of the UK folk scene.

John McCusker, a longstanding member of the annual Transatlantic Sessions band, is renowned for his distinctive, emotionally charged playing and his ability to transcend musical boundaries.

Beyond his traditional roots, McCusker has been a member of Mark Knopfler’s studio and touring band since 2008 , performing in global arenas such as Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Royal Albert Hall.

His extensive portfolio includes collaborations and live performances with artists including David Gilmour, Eric Clapton, Paul Weller, and The Proclaimers , alongside producing influential debut albums for Kris Drever and Roddy Woomble.

Joining McCusker for the Nettlebed performance are Sam Kelly and Toby Shaer.

Sam Kelly, well known as the frontman of Sam Kelly & The Lost Boys, won the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and achieved national recognition as a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.

Toby Shaer, a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist, completes the line-up with his celebrated command of flutes, whistles, and guitars.

Together, the trio promises a rich tapestry of original compositions, traditional melodies, and contemporary folk songs delivered with warmth, humour, and instrumental brilliance.

Attendes are promised a rare experience, deeply rooted in tradition, yet bursting with innovation.

The John McCusker Trio will perform on Monday, 8 June. The doors open for the event at 7pm, with the show at 7.30pm.

The event will take place at The Village Club, High Street, Nettlebed, Near Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, RG9 5DD.
