About us

We aim to celebrate events, activities, clubs and places in and around Reading. If it’s going on, it’s going in.

There will be a mixture of posts covering reviews, news, interviews, and things to do.

Our events guide will tell you what’s on, and we’ll have a weekly newsletter emailed to you on Mondays showcasing the highlights of the week ahead.

We’ll look to offer you ideas for low-cost or free activities for all ages, from walks to museums. There will be other family-friendly events and activities to enjoy.

We will celebrate Reading’s heritage, from the three Bs to the more modern places.

There are some surprising stories to tell, some great secrets to reveal, and some brilliant things you didn’t know you needed to know.

Reading is a great little big town, with much to commend it.

We hope you enjoy discovering the Real Reading with us.

Got an idea, want to tell us something? Are there parts of Reading you think we should know about? Our email address will be coming soon.

How we conduct our reviews

Our goal is to celebrate and champion Reading, particularly independent businesses. So, we will always look for the positives about places and aim to tell their story.

Where we can we visit places anonymously, but sometimes we will be invited to visit or, in the case of theatrical events, will have review tickets.

This means we may not have the same experience as a typical member of the public. We have methods to counter this to enable our pieces to be as objective as possible.

We don’t give copy approval and won’t let anyone tell us what to write.

Advertising

Cheeselogs can only exist with advertising, sponsorship and support to fund our work.

If a post is supported by a paid-for element, it will be clearly labelled as such so you can have confidence in what you are reading. If there is an affiliate link (in that we receive a share of the revenue generated from your clicks) then this will also be made clear.

There will be no guest posts that are irrelevant to people who live and work in the Reading area.
