Lou Sanders has won at Taskmaster and appeared on Dancing On Ice. Now she’s hoping to shout house when she comes to Reading’s Hexagon in May.
Next year, she will be embarking on her biggest tour to date, with 38 dates in total.
Called No Kissing In The Bingo Hall, it is described as her most personal show yet, and also a deep, dumb show for the masses.
“Just like Tom Cruise does all his own stunts, I’m going to do all my own jokes,” she quips.
It’s been a busy time for the comedian.
As well as Dancing on Ice, she appeared in the fourth series of Unforgivable which Lou co-hosts with Mel Giedroyc, hosted an episode of Live At The Apollo, and regularly pops up on BBC Radio 4’s The Unbelievable Truth.
She has also written a memoir, What’s That Lady Doing? False Starts and Happy Endings.
“It seems to have connected with women over 35, alcoholics and other vulnerable cross sections of humanity,” she says of the book.
It delves into a rich variety of topics including her sexual harassment, overcoming shame, trauma, and discovering spirituality with her trademark humour, honesty and vulnerability.
The book was described by The Guardian as “a moving, hilarious and generally astonishing memoir”, and made the top ten biographies on Audible.
She also writes regular columns for The Guardian and Metro newspapers.
As if that wasn’t enough, she is also a regular on the touring circuit, picking up favourite nominations from critics and audiences alike.
Her Hexagon appearance will be on Wednesday, May 21, from 8pm.
The show is for adults, and the minimum age for people to attend is 14.
Tickets cost £25 per person, and can be purchased by calling the Reading Arts box office on 0118 960 6060, or log on to the Whatsonreading.com website, https://whatsonreading.com/venues/hexagon/whats-on/lou-sanders
