Soft or Spiky: Fabulous new sensory show created for babies coming to Norden Farm this February 1

What question would you want your baby to answer? What would you like them to ask you? In a world full of astonishing unknowns and surprising possibilities, how do you find the right answers or questions?

Soft or Spiky is a playful and interactive new show that is full of shapes, sounds, textures and words exploring different ways to connect and understand each other.

Inspired by heartfelt conversations with new parents, this humorous production coming to Maidenhead-based Norden Farm Centre For The Arts explores the multiple ways we communicate, ensuring that no one is left out.

It is for ages six months to 18 months.

At the end of the performance there is a stay and play session where audiences can enter the sensory landscape of the production.

Devised and directed by Daryl Beeton, Soft or Spiky? is a Polka Theatre and Half Moon co-production. It is an exciting collaboration by two of the UK’s leading children’s venues and touring companies.

Polka started life as a touring company in 1967, under the Artistic Directorship of Richard Gill.

He was spurred on by a commitment to fine design and craftmanship and a passion for puppetry.

He took the company’s work to many of Britain’s major theatres. By 1979, Polka’s dream of a permanent home for children’s theatre became a reality.

Half Moon is an organisation with a national remit.

They work from their East London base and give young people from birth to 18 (25 for young people with disabilities) an opportunity to experience the best in young people’s theatre, both as a participant and as an audience member.

This show has very limited language. This makes is accessible to a range of people, including d/Deaf, hard of hearing and non-English speakers.
