There was outrage in the summer when tickets for the hotly anticipated Oasis reunion concerts went on sale. Surge pricing meant tickets intended to be £148 crept up to £355.

But for fans of the band, an opportunity to see a tribute to the Britpop legends is the next best thing and at wallet friendly prices. Tickets for the show cost from £20.50, and it is coming to Reading’s Hexagon theatre on Saturday, January 18.

What is Live Forever and what can Oasis fans expect?

The show is from the same people who put on Seven Drunken Nights, a celebration of The Dubliners, and That’ll Be The Day, a hugely popular touring show that comes to The Hexagon every year and celebrates the number ones from the 1950s to the 1980s.

They also organise tribute concerts to (deep breath now) Bon Jon Jovi, The Everly Brothers, The Carpenters, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Wings and The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Abba, The Temptations, Rod Stewart, The Eagles, Ariana Grande,  Queen, Frank Sinatra, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Elvis, and Madonna.

Clearly, they know what they are doing.

Live Forever is billed as ‘a celebration of the music of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time’.

Organisers say: “From the moment the curtains rise, you’ll be transported back to the 90s where, through a timeline of songs, you will follow the band’s meteoric rise to fame; from their humble beginnings on a south Manchester council estate, to becoming the biggest band on the planet and playing to more than a quarter of a million fans at their now legendary Knebworth concerts.”

They also want to make clear that the show is not endorsed by or affiliated with Oasis of the Gallagher brothers, Noel and Liam.

What Oasis songs will be on the set list?

There will be more than 30 different Oasis songs for people to enjoy.

There will be fan favourites including Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back In Anger and Some Might Say.

The organisers say it is a must-see for all Oasis fans and children of the 90s, and it will be a supersonic night out.

When is Live Forever – The Rise of Britain’s Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band coming to Reading and how much are tickets?

The show will take place at The Hexagon in Queens Walk, Reading from 7.30pm on Saturday, January 18.

Tickets are already on sale, and cost £20.50, £27 or £29.

Park Life! I’m a Blur fan, not an Oasis lover. What has The Hexagon ever done for us?

Britpop had its battles, and one of the biggest was the rivalry between Oasis and Blur.

Blur’s single Country House beat Oasis’ Roll With It to the number one spot in 1995, just one such example of their competition with each other.

The Hexagon will be catering to Blur fans, and they won’t have to wait long to do so.

On Friday, February 21, there will be a screening of Blur: Live at Wembley Stadium.

This film is the two-hour concert performed in 2023.

More than 150,000 turned up to hear them perform many of their hit songs, and it has been immortalised in this movie.

Tickets cost £10, while Reading Arts members and concessions get £2 discount.

However, be warned that the film has a 15 rating, so anyone aged 14 or under are counted as girls and boys, and can’t get in.
