This Thursday, 20 August, is a big day for many Reading students – they will be collecting their GCSE results. To help make it a day to remember, many restaurants are offering free food and treats.

Results day helps pupils determine their next steps in education. Some will be staying at their school and taking A-levels, while others will be looking to attend college or start apprenticeships. Whatever the grades, this is a moment to mark.

It’s become a tradition in recent years for venues in the town to help the teenagers celebrate their future by offering special deals and freebies.

Here are some of the offers for 2026.

Advance booking may be required, terms and conditions may apply, and offers can be withdrawn at any time. If in doubt, check with the venue first.

Banana Tree (Henley or Windsor)

Head to Henley or Windsor for a free starter and dessert when buying any main course from Banana Tree, which specialises in Asian cuisine.

The offer is only available by claiming a voucher on its website, and bringing it along with the results to the restaurant. Booking is advised.

The menu includes Ramen, Laska, Pad Thai, Teriyaki Soba Noodles, Katsu Curry and Katsu Burgers.

Students can claim a free starter and dessert with the purchase of any adult main dish by signing up for an online voucher and presenting results.

If heading there as a family, the restaurant is also offering free meals for children when an adult purchases a main course.

To pre-book, visit: https://bananatree.co.uk/results-day and https://bananatree.co.uk/kids-eat-free

Bella Italia (The Oracle Riverside)

Bella Italia is another company offering a free starter and dessert with any main course. The offer is for everyone in the group, not just the students.

However, students wanting to take part in the offer must sign up in advance at the company’s website. This gives them a unique code which can be turned into the free food.

Bill’s (St Mary’s Butts)

Bill’s is offering a free dessert to students who order any main meal and present their GCSE results.

The restaurant is based in St Mary’s Butts, and there is also a branch in Windsor. It’s not quite Eton, but if you want an authentic Eton Mess…

Giggling Squid (Henley, Windsor and Wokingham)

Students ordering a main meal can claim a free portion of Sticky Chicken by showing their results. This offer runs from results day through to Sunday, 23 August, and is only for those dining in. Sadly, the offer can’t be claimed on multiple visits: it’s a one-time deal only and the student must be present to claim.

Also, sadly, we don’t have a Giggling Squid in Reading, but there are branches in Henley, Windsor and Wokingham if you’re prepared to travel.

Itsu (Broad Street)

The Reading branch of Itsu is offering free gyoza on GCSE results day. To take part, show staff the results – this must be dated for this year’s exams.

The details are available on its social media: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/18C4ePD7Hs/

Las Iguanas (The Oracle Riverside)

Claim a free starter and dessert when ordering an adult main meal. The deal requires registering online for a promotional voucher and presenting the GCSE results. Across the year, students can receive 30% discount from Sunday to Thursday with a valid student ID, while it invites students to have a bottomless brunch for £24.95. This is a two-hour session that includes drinks and food and runs from Monday to Thursday across the year.

Nando’s (The Oracle and Friar Street)

Nando’s has years of practice with its GCSE offer so it’s set up its own dedicated webpage detailing its offer.

School and college students a free Quarter Chicken or Starter when showing student ID and results at the till. To take advantage of the offer, students need to spend £7 or more and order at the till to Eat-in or Walk-in Collect. This offer is only available on results day, it cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, and students must show the GCSE results slip and student ID at the till.

The good news is you can still earn chilli points with the purchase.

Nando’s has branches in The Oracle Riverside and on Friar Street. There is also a Nando’s in Wokingham town centre.

Pizza Express (The Oracle)

Bottomless Pizza is the offer from Pizza Express: all the pizza you can eat in a 90-minute period. That’s a lot of pie for £12.50.

The offer covers pizzas from its Classic menu: Margherita, American, Giardiniera, La Reine and Sloppy Giuseppe Pizzas (including gluten-free or vegan alternatives), and Bottomless Dough Balls.

Under 12s can order a Piccolo meal or individual Piccolo menu items, but these will be charged at full price.

The offer is for students who bring their results in before 5pm, and covers all diners on the table – they must all take part to qualify. If Uncle Fred wants some pasta, he’ll have to sit on another table.

And it’s also only for people dining in on results day. A cover charge is added for parties of seven or more.

Pizza Express has branches in The Oracle Riverside, and Bracknell, Newbury, Windsor and Wokingham.

Prezzo Italian (King Street)

Not quite so generous this: a free drink is on offer for the GCSE student if they are buying a main course and have proof of their grades. However, it does run until Friday, 4 December, and includes all regular soft drinks, 175ml house wine, Pint or 330ml bottle of Poretti, and cocktails – if old enough to drink. If multiple drinks are on the bill, the cheapest one will be offered on the house.

There are a few exceptions to the offer depending on which branch is being visited – none of these applies to the Reading branch except for the offer not being valid if customers are using Prezzo Italian offers, partner offer(s), Tesco Clubcard Rewards, BYO Pasta, Set Menu, Kids Set Menu, Kids Club Subscription, Bottomless Aperitivo, Delivery or Takeaway Sales.

It’s worth checking the details: https://prezzo.co.uk/terms-and-conditions-2026/may/free-drink-for-all-graduates/

Rosa’s Thai (King’s Road)

Students can get a free Pad Thai with a bubble tea purchase after signing up for a code on the website and presenting their results. The code must be reserved before visiting the restaurant and is not valid with any other offer, set menu, lunch menu, voucher or discount. IT is only for people dining in, and is only available while stocks last.

Zizzi (The Oracle Riverside)

Italian restaurant Zizzi is offering free pizza to students … but only the first 30 students to turn up with their results can claim it. They have to buy a soft drink and show proof of their results.

If you aren’t among the first 30, all eligible students can receive a half-price classic pizza if they dine before 5pm. Again, they need to buy a drink and show proof of results.

The Classic Pizza menu includes Margherita, Pepperoni, Pollo and Pesto (chicken and pesto), and Pinoli (Goat’s cheese and caramelised balsamic onions).

The offer is only available for those dining in.

Zizzi has branches in The Oracle Riverside, Bracknell, Henley, and Wokingham.
