Alex Clarke, one of the most acclaimed and versatile saxophonists on the British jazz scene, is set to perform at Pangbourne Jazz Club.
The gig, on Sunday, June 1, is from 7.30 PM.
Alex Clarke has garnered widespread recognition since reaching the final of the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year in 2020.
Her rise in the jazz world includes winning the Rising Star category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards and she is a three-time nominee in the Parliamentary Jazz Awards.
Known for her intelligent ear for harmony and mastery of repertoire across diverse styles, Alex Clarke’s sound echoes the bebop tradition, drawing inspiration from jazz legends such as Phil Woods, Cannonball Adderley, and Vincent Herring.

Her fiery and melodic approach reflects a deep respect for the heritage of jazz. As a bandleader, Clarke’s quartet features some of the UK’s finest musicians: David Newton, Dave Green, and Steve Brown.
Following the release of her album Only A Year in summer 2022, Alex Clarke and her quartet have toured the country, delighting audiences at venues like Swanage Jazz Festival, Southport Jazz Festival, and Scarborough Jazz Festival.
For her gig at the Pangbourne Jazz Club, Alex Clarke will perform alongside the Terry Hutchins Quartet, which includes Jim Pollard on piano, Andy Crowdy on double bass, Terry Hutchins on guitar, and Brian Greene on drums.
The event promises a blend of musical brilliance, complemented by a bar, free raffle, and convenient public parking.

Tickets cost £14, including a booking fee and can be bought in advance from Skiddle.
There is no need to book, as audiences can come along and buy tickets on the door.
Tickets are also on sale for the July gig, on Sunday, July 6. This will see Denny Illett team up with the musicians for a night of swing, bebop, blues and everything in between.
