Reading-based artists will be showcasing their work at a special event taking place in Redlands this weekend.

St Luke’s Parish Hall on Erleigh Road will be the venue for the showcase, which has been called Sunshine and Showers.

There will be a selection of paintings, ceramics, prints and surprises available to view.

Some of the art has been turned into greetings cards that can be brought for £1 each, while other pieces can be bought for what organisers promise will be bargain prices.

The creators will be on hand to answer questions about their works, explain their processes and demonstrate their skills.

St Luke’s Parish Hall is described as a stunning space with huge windows that let the light stream in, making it perfect for showcasing the very best pieces on display.

And to encourage people to stay and enjoy the ambience, a pop-up café will be available. The menu will include teas and coffees plus homemade cake.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, July 19, and from noon to 5pm on Sunday, July 20. Entry is free.

Erleigh Road is a thriving part of east Reading, and the area around the parish hall is home to the Monkey Lounge, Café Yolk and Finns Fish and Chips. A short walk away is Monty’s Café, which we reviewed here.
