Broadcaster and comedian Sue Perkins is returning to her comedy roots with a brand-new tour, The Eternal Shame of Sue Perkins, which arrives at The Hexagon in March.

Best-known for her work on The Great British Bake Off, Taskmaster, and Just a Minute, Sue Perkins has not performed a full-length stand-up show in nearly 20 years.

The show promises an honest and hilarious exploration of her three decades in the public eye.

Sue intends to share the more awkward and surreal moments of her career, including the aftermath of a health-related incident on live television and the bizarre true story behind an internet rumour involving a vacuum cleaner.

Recent reviews of the tour describe the performance as a perky collection of anecdotes that range from professional mishaps to deeply personal revelations.

Critics have noted that while the show touches on light-hearted celebrity stories, including a drug-addled encounter with a shaman for a television travelogue, it also delves into more serious territory.

Sue will also discuss the breakdown she experienced a decade ago following the discovery of a benign pituitary tumour, an event she describes with a blend of vulnerability and her trademark sharp wit.

The performance has an age guidance of 16 upwards, and will be an intimate evening where Perkins invites the audience into her confidence as she reflects on themes of stigma and humiliation, ultimately exploring how to reclaim dignity and joy after very public misunderstandings.

When is The Eternal Shame of Sue Perkins coming to Reading, and how can I get tickets?

The Eternal Shame of Sue Perkins will be performed at The Hexagon, Queens Walk, Reading, RG1 7UA, on Saturday 7 March 2026. The performance is scheduled to start at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the event are priced at £32, and a maximum of six can be booked online per customer. Those requiring more than six, or are looking to book wheelchair and accessible seating should contact the box office directly.
