To celebrate the 45th anniversary of The Jam’s album Setting Sons, a special concert is coming to Reading’s Hexagon in November.
From The Jam will be joined by special guests Ruts/Ruts DC and London Calling for the one-night-only gig.
The album was the first to reach the US charts, and was a number four hit over here.
It included their first top ten hit single The Eton Rifles, and was a massive commercial success.
From The Jam’s Russell Hastings said: “I seems that even the obscure album tracks like Little Boy Soldiers and Thick As Thieves are as popular when we play them live as the hit singles.”
The we he refers to are bandmates Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler: The Jam’s bassist/songwriter, and drummer respectively.
Russell is the only frontman to work with both Rick Buckler and Bruce Foxton since Paul Weller.
Ruts/Ruts DC (originally The Ruts) are also celebrating a 45th anniversary: back in 1979, they released their debut LP The Crack.
It features the singles Babylon’s Burning, Jah War and Something That I Said.
As The Ruts, they released singles In A Rut, West One (Shine On Me), and Staring At The Rude Boys before changing their name to Ruts DC.
And London Calling is a band celebrating the music of The Clash.
They had sold out tours of Australia and the UK, performing hits and fan favourites such as Should I Stay or Should I Go, Rock the Casbah, I Fought the Law, White Man in Hammersmith Palais, Complete Control, Clash City Rockers, Garageband, Safe European Home, Train in Vain, and, of course, London Calling.
The show is at The Hexagon in Queens Walk on Friday, November 1.
Doors open at 7pm, and tickets cost £37.50 for a seat, or £42.50 for the standing area.
Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult and seated in the balcony.
