In Malcolm We Trust 14: a superb birthday bash you’re all invited to

Four great bands and no doubt one of them will lead a chorus of Happy Birthday. Why? Well, In Malcolm We Trust.

The annual birthday bash for legendary Reading gig goer Malcolm Unwin is coming up later this month.

Organised by Club Velocity, In Malcolm We Trust will be held at The Rising Sun in Silver Street – that’s the arts centre, not the closed pub near the station or the new pub that was The Sun Inn.

The event celebrates Malcolm who really does go to a lot of gigs around town. And with so many taking place every week, he absolutely has been to an impressive amount.

Club Velocity says he really knows his music … and even saw Crass at Reading Town Hall in 1982.

Who are the bands at this year’s In Malcolm We Trust at The Rising Sun?

The line-up for this year’s In Malcolm We Trust gig is The Country Moans, Bored Slippy, New Puritans, and the Rat Boys Magic Show.

THE COUNTRY MOANS

Reading supergroup that deal in doing the Ramones country punk style.

They describe themselves as: Ramones songs played with hillbilly instruments.

Way back in 2016 (a simpler time of social and political harmony – much like Johnny and Joey typified on tour), a bunch of highly talented Reading musicians, formerly of bands such as Oizone, The Seize, and more recently, the Kazoopremes, gathered together and came up with the entirely novel idea of merging Country and Punk.

They felt confident this new brand of music would surely take the South, West, and even parts of East Reading by storm.

BORED SLIPPY

Ace New(ish) Kids On The Block hailing from Reading.

Bored Slippy infuses indie rock roots with captivating synthy elements, crafting a sound that’s both nostalgic and modern.

NEW PURITANS

Reading living legends. New Wave not Punk. The housewives faves….

RAT BOYS MAGIC SHOW

Flying in from the North Pier, Blackpool, where he has a summer season.

When is In Malcolm We Trust taking place?

Doors open at 8pm, with the first band performing at 8.15pm.
