Two choirs will join forces this weekend for a free lunchtime concert.

Chorate Chamber Choir and Waltham Madrigals will gather for As Time Goes By in St Mary’s Church in Twyford from 1pm on Saturday, January 18.

The show is called As Time Goes By, and will feature songs of life, love, death and dancing.

The programme is a selection of madrigals, part-songs, sacred and secular. Works have been composed by people such as Janequin, Byrd, Durfule, Parry, Pearsall, and Hupfeld.

Who are Chorate Chamber Choir?

They are a Reading-based mixed voice chamber who have been singing since 2009.

Members want to sing, have fun and raise funds for good causes – so far they have raised nearly £30,000.

Its repertoire includes sacred and secular music from the 13th century to the present day, by composers from Palestrina and Bach through to The Turtles and The Beatles.

Who are Waltham Madrigals?

The Waltham Madrigals are a small group of singers who particularly enjoy madrigals of the English school, c1580-1625, which were written mostly for domestic entertainment.

It takes place at St Mary’s Church in Church Road.

After the show there will be light refreshments available.
