Next week, the Trinity Concert Band officially launches its 25th anniversary year with an ambitious programme that travels across five continents.

The milestone marks two-and-a-half decades for the Lower Earley-based ensemble, which has grown from a small group into a much-loved symphonic wind band featuring over 50 talented musicians.

Their reputation for excellence is backed by a history of success at the National Community Concert Band Festival, where they have previously secured prestigious Platinum awards.

The upcoming concert, Music Around The World, is designed to be an international experience.

The repertoire features The Washington Post, a spirited march composed by John Philip Sousa in 1889 to celebrate an essay contest for the newspaper of the same name.

The band will also perform Philip Sparke’s Land of the Long White Cloud, a landmark work in brass and wind band literature that was inspired by the dramatic landscapes of New Zealand.

Audiences can also look forward to Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, which transformed traditional folk rhythms into an orchestral suite, and the evocative Amazonia, which captures the power of the South American rainforest.

For film fans, the programme includes the high-energy theme from Pirates of the Caribbean, composed by Hans Zimmer.

Also on the programme is American Elegy. Frank Ticheli wrote this in 1999 as a tribute to the community of Columbine High School following a shooting there, creating a work that focuses on hope and collective strength rather than just sorrow.

The concert will raise funds for the band’s 2026 charity partner, Parenting Special Children. This Berkshire-based charity provides vital specialist support to families of children and young people with additional needs.

When is Music Around The World coming to Wokingham, and how can I get tickets?

Music around the world will be performed by Trinity Concert Band at All Saints Church, Wiltshire Road, Wokingham RG40 1UE on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The performance starts at 7pm.

Tickets for adults are £15, while children under 16 can attend for free.

The band also operates a newcomers scheme, which allows those who have never attended one of their concerts before to claim a free ticket, subject to terms and conditions.
