A night of the Blues is coming to Newbury later this month thanks to musician Aynsley Lister.

He will be making a return visit to Arlington Arts Centre, together with his band.

Organisers say Aynsley Lister will perform electrifying music that will have audiences hooked from the first note.

Aynsley Lister is a familiar name on the British Blues scene.

He has been performing for more than two decades, and been billed as one of the most exciting contemporary Blues guitarists around today.

Known not only for his exceptional guitar playing, Aynsley Lister is also a highly regarded songwriter whose passion for music crosses genres, effortlessly combining blues, soul, Americana, rock and sometimes even pop elements.

Audiences can expect an evening of fan favourites from Aynsley Lister’s extensive back catalogue mixed with newer material from his most recent highly acclaimed albums.

The Arlington Arts Centre says his music is suitable for fans of: Gary Clarke Jnr., Eric Clapton, The Black Keys, John Mayer, and Tedeschi Trucks.

And his website notes: “In hindsight, it’s clear Aynsley was born to be a musician.  As a child he was hypnotised by his dad’s old guitar and at the age of eight was finally gifted his very own.

“The moment he held that first six-string the outcome was inevitable; he was going to be a guitarist.

“Blessed with the coolest dad in town, regularly spinning Hendrix, Cream, Fleetwood Mac and a whole host of bewitching blues for his spellbound son, Aynsley taught himself to play with relentless dedication and a precociously attuned ear, spending hours copying his favourite records note for note.

“Peter Green, Albert King, Clapton and Kossoff weren’t just his heroes; they became his teachers.”
