The Great British Songbook will celebrate some of the best pop music ever created, and it’s coming to Maidenhead this July.
The musicians putting on The Great British Songbook show include Italian vocalist Irene Serra (Wynton Marsalis, Norma Winstone, US3) and guitarist Luca Boscagin (Jason Rebello, Cinematic Orchestra, Jim Mullen).
The duo have joined forces to create an album, and the performance at Norden Farm Centre For The Arts is to celebrate its launch.
What is The Great British Songbook?
The Great American Songbook is the loosely defined canon of significant 20th-century American jazz standards, popular songs, and show tunes.
But the Great British Songbook is slightly different.
Irene and Luca have handpicked some of the most loved songs by famous British singers and songwriters of the last 70 years.

The duo say that for The Great British Songbook, they have created fresh-sounding, unique arrangements for tracks created by the likes of The Beatles, Sting, Massive Attack, and Imogen Heap.
The evening in July is a celebration of the most defining songs of the British pop-rock music scene reimagined through the pair’s signature groovy sound.
Who are Irene Serra and Luca Boscagin?
Irene Serra is known for her varied and eclectic repertoire, masterfully performing straight-ahead jazz standards, blues, Brazilian music, and her original compositions.
A thoughtful and intelligent musician, she started studying jazz at the age of 16 at the Academy of Music with renowned jazz vocalist Tiziana Ghigliotti and then moved to London to continue to study music.
Guitarist Luca Boscagin grew up heavily influenced by rock and jazz and, as a musician, has an equally wide range of guises to play with. He moved to London in 2009, driven by a passion for the British music scene.
For their performance of The Great British Songbook, they will be joined by world-class musicians Andy Hamill on bass (Mark Murphy, Laura Mvula, Annie Lennox), and Fergus Gerrand on drums and percussion (Madonna, Mike Oldfield, Sting).
When will The Great British Songbook be performed, and how much are tickets?
The Great British Songbook sees musicians brought together by their passion for British pop music.
The show will take place at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Saturday, July 5, at 8pm.
Tickets are £17.50, and are available from the Box Office on 01628 788997 or online at https://norden.farm/events/the-great-british-songbook
