A one-day celebration of Transformers is coming to Reading in November.
The TFN: Mini-Con will see special guests, demonstrations, models and dealers offering merchandise all related to the popular fantasy series and toy line which first sprang into life in the mid-1980s.
The Transformers are robots in disguise from Cybertron.
The goodies are called Autobots and are led by Optimus Prime. When disguised he is a lorry.
The baddies are Decepticons and are led by Megatron.
Over the years, there have been cartoons, comics, books and movies dedicated to the ongoing saga.
In the 1980s, Simon Furman was writer of a comic book series published in the UK by Marvel. He since returned to it for a new series for publisher IDW.
He will be one of the guest speakers at the Mini-Con, and will share stories about his creation of stories, including Transformers: ReGeneration One, and Transformers ’84: Secrets and Lies.
He has also written for a range of popular comic book, including Doctor Who, Death’s Head, She-Hulk, Robocop, X-Men, and Wallace & Gromit.
Joining him will be writer and artist Nick Roche.
He has worked on stories such as Maximum Dinobots, The Wreckers Saga and Last Bot Standing, and helped with character design work for the animation Transformers: Earthspark.
In addition to spilling the beans about his entries into the Transformers universe, Roche will be selling artwork.
The Reading event is a smaller event that than main convention that TFN: organise and includes a dealers’ room offering fans a chance to add to their collections.
A Forge room will be set up for fans to showcase their art and craft creations.
It will be held on Saturday, November 23, at The Great Hall of the University of Reading’s London Road campus, close to Reading town centre.
Tickets cost £40, £25 for ages 16-17, and free for under 15s. There is limited capacity available.
There is exclusive pre-order merchandise available from the website, including a teddy bear and a tour T-shirt.
