What is Motown?

The Motown sound refers to the distinctive style of music developed by Motown Records, a record label founded in 1959 by Berry Gordy Jr. in Detroit, Michigan.

It became one of the most influential styles in the development of soul, R&B, and pop music during the 1960s and beyond.
