Jokes, Jokes, Jokes. That’s what award-winning comedian and novelist Jenny Éclair is promising to bring to Reading this autumn. That and the threat of some punk poetry.
The show is a celebration of her recently released autobiography of the same name and follows Sixty (FFS), her critically acclaimed and twice-extended tour, and a successful series of live performances of the Older And Wider podcast.
Jokes, Jokes, Jokes Live! looks back at her life with her signature wit, from her early days at drama school (mostly, she says, drinking cider and eating sausage rolls), sleeping with men who looked like they lived under a carpet, punk poetry, anorexia, bedsit misery, waitressing and not really having a clue about anything, to being the first woman to win the Perrier Award, becoming a mother, author, grumpy old woman, podcaster and nana.

The show promises to be both hilarious and reflective, with Jenny inviting audiences to join her in looking back at what she can remember before she forgets everything.
Jenny Eclair says, “I’m delighted to announce that I shall be dragging my old carcass back on the road with a brand new show, and hopefully finding that cardigan I left in Toddington Service station last year.”
The show may also include punk poetry, animal impressions and baritone nursery rhyme singing may feature. The Times described it as “Ruthlessly funny,” and is suitable for ages 14 and over, though it may contain strong language and sexual references.
