The Norden Farm Jazz Club has announced the return of the Benn Clatworthy Quartet to the Norden Farm Centre for the Arts this month.
The Los Angeles-based musician, who was a protege of the late Ronnie Scott, will perform on Friday, 20 March.
Clatworthy began his career in the London music scene during the 1970s before moving to California in 1980.
A versatile multi-instrumentalist, he has built a reputation in the LA music scene playing tenor, alto, and baritone saxophone, as well as flute and clarinet. His career has seen him collaborate with a wide range of performers, including the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and Cab Calloway.
For the Maidenhead performance, Clatworthy will be joined by pianist Alex Hutton, bassist Simon Thorpe, and drummer Matt Home.
Hutton is a well-known figure on the London jazz scene, while Thorpe has worked with a diverse range of artists, from Amy Winehouse to Rick Astley. Home, a graduate of jazz and popular music studies, has performed extensively across Europe and at major jazz festivals.
The quartet will focus on a repertoire from the Blue Note songbook alongside contemporary jazz pieces. The evening is expected to include a mix of ballads and up-tempo compositions.
