A Blondie tribute show coming to Newbury later this April is so popular that tickets have nearly sold out, so anyone wanting to enjoy the music shouldn’t be Hanging On The Telephone but making a beeline to the box office.

Bootleg Blondie recreates the sounds of one of the popular band which had a string of hits including the aforementioned telephone song, as well as One Way Or Another, Heart of Glass, Maria, Hanging On The Telephone, Call Me.

The group are headed up by vocalist Debbie Harris.

She has the looks, the voice and the attitude of the original Blondie bombshell and like her heroine is typically outrageous on stage, wearing dustbin liners, thigh length boots and T-shirts with more holes than you’re used to seeing on a T-shirt.

Debbie says her pride and joy is her guitar which she plays at every show: it has been signed by all the Blondie band members.

A star in her own right, she has featured in You, The Mail On Sunday’s magazine and performed on two TV shows for BBC One, after being picked out of 15,000 applicants to represent Debbie Harry on Even Better Than The Real Thing hosted by Paddy McGuinness which attracted an audience of 10 million viewers.
