Nettlebed Folk Club will welcome acclaimed singer, songwriter and actor John Tams for a special performance this October.

Described by MOJO as “one of the ultimate British songwriters”, John’s career spans more than six decades across theatre, television, radio and music. He is a seven-time winner at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and has released over 60 albums, continuing to perform on festival and concert stages across the UK and Europe.

Folk audiences will know John from groups including Muckram Wakes, The Albion Band, Home Service and his celebrated duo with Barry Coope.

On stage, he has worked extensively with the National Theatre as both actor and composer, notably on Lark Rise to Candleford. He was also an original member of the creative team behind the international stage success War Horse.

He has also contributed to radio dramas and documentaries, winning Gold at the Sony Radio Academy Awards as executive music director of the BBC’s Radio Ballads.

Nettlebed Folk Club organisers said this concert is a rare opportunity to see an artist who has left his mark across so many areas of performance.
