A storm-lashed summer in 1816 set the stage for one of literature’s greatest gothic tales: Frankenstein.

Trapped indoors by the weather, Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and the young Mary Godwin challenged each other to create a ghost story. From this contest came Mary’s enduring masterpiece – Frankenstein.

Now the tale of ambition, grief, and a scientist who dared to play god arrives at Arlington Arts Centre.

This new adaptation follows a sold-out three-week run at Boston Manor House in West London last autumn and is now on a UK tour.

Written by Jack Fairey and directed by Laura Hannawin, the play features performances from Phoebe Taylor-Jones, Matthew McGoldrick and Luke McCulloch. Lighting design is by Ros Chase, with Jonathan Ashby producing for The Arts Centre, Hounslow.

Audiences can expect an atmospheric production that brings Mary Shelley’s words to life with intensity, theatrical invention, and a chilling use of light and sound.
