Fans of rockabilly and glam-rock are in for a treat as STARCAT take to the stage at Reading’s Face Bar early next year.
The band unites members of the Stray Cats, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, and The Polecats for a night of high-energy, 21st-century rock ‘n’ roll.
STARCAT feature Slim Jim Phantom, the legendary drummer of the Stray Cats; Neal X, guitarist of futuristic glam-rock band Sigue Sigue Sputnik; and Phil Bloomberg, the double bass supremo from The Polecats.
Together, they fuse the primitive and the sophisticated, delivering a mix of original tracks, classic rock ‘n’ roll, and unexpected surprises.

Described as “the screech of a Cadillac tearing out of nowhere,” STARCAT aim to reinvent the shimmer and throb of 1950s guitars and the pounding tribal beats of 1980s teenage rebellion, all rolled into a modern rock ‘n’ roll extravaganza.
Slim Jim Phantom helped spearhead the neo-rockabilly movement with the Stray Cats in the early 1980s and remains a fixture in the rock world over 40 years later.
Phil Polecat contributed to The Polecats’ Top 40 success, including their take on David Bowie’s John I’m Only Dancing.
Neal X gained international fame with Sigue Sigue Sputnik and has collaborated with Marc Almond and Glen Matlock, as well as forming the rockabilly band The Montecristos.
For fans of classic rockabilly and modern glam, STARCAT promises a night of musical thrills.
