Reading School’s big 900th: Composers and West End musical director to perform

A celebration of music from the West End to the big screen will take place as part of Reading School’s 900th-anniversary celebrations.

The event, which brings together alumni from across generations, will be held at the Concert Hall in Reading town centre this autumn.

The Old Redingensians’ House Music Competition has long showcased the school’s musical talent.

This year is extra special, thanks to the school’s once-in-a-century anniversary.

To mark the occasion, it will be welcoming back former students to lead and perform.

Each school House will present a 25-minute programme featuring an Orchestra, Choir, Student Solo, duet, trio, quartet, or sextet.

Alumni return to the stage

This year’s competition is curated and led by a number of accomplished alumni musicians, including acclaimed composer Harry Brokensha, West End Associate Musical Director Ehsaan Shivarani, award-nominated Musical Director Chris Poon, and BBC Young Musician Woodwind Winner Ewan Millar.

All proceeds from ticket sales will support Reading School’s Beyond 900 Campaign, which aims to redevelop Expressive Arts facilities, build a new Sports Hall, and improve the Sixth Form provision.

When is Reading School Old Redingensians’ House Music Competition coming to Reading Town Hall, and how do I get tickets?
