A chance to get Christmas presents and watch a fire eater while celebrating the switching-on of Christmas lights is coming to Winnersh this November.

Winnersh Parish Council will be turning the community centre and Bearwood Recreation Ground into a winter wonderland for the festive extravaganza.

Businesses from the surrounding area will be offering a selection of craft items and present ideas for people, with stalls set up inside the centre.

A raffle will raise funds for First Days Children’s Charity.

There will be seasonal performances from pupils attending Bearwood Primary School, Winnersh Primary School and Wheatfield Primary School.

Joining them will be The Barberettes choir.

And to add to the merriment, there will be a visit from Danny the Fire Performer, an astonishing fire eater and juggler.

A festive feast will be provided by the 1st Winnersh Scouts. They will be selling hot dogs from their stall, while The Pizzatron will be bringing its mobile pizza van to the centre.

The firm makes wood-fired pizzas with toppings including ham and mushroom, full vegetarian, ham and pineapple, and spicy meatballs.

Meanwhile, hot drinks will be available from a stall organised by members of St Mary’s Church in Winnersh.

The evening will culminate in the switching on the lights on the Christmas tree by Wokingham borough mayor, Cllr Adrian Mather, followed by community carol singing.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy some free mulled wine and a mince pie.

The event takes place on Saturday, November 30, from 4pm.

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 6.40pm, and the event ends at 7pm.
