Dark humour is promised when Jimmy Carr returns to Reading this November.

The comic is bringing his Laughs Funny show to The Hexagon not once, not twice, but three times … so popular is the star that the show is performed twice in an evening, and there will be a repeat performance in February.

The show is about jokes.

He says he tells them, and they can be like magnets: they can attract some people and repel others.

In the same way, some people are repelled by Jimmy’s dark comedy, while others, well, this show, he says, is the kind of thing they will like.

The TV star is promising 90 minutes of jokes in the show, with no interval.

A familiar face on our screens, he has hosted a range of shows including Eight Out of 10 Cats.

Tickets for his Reading appearances cost £37.50 and can only be purchased via Reading Arts or Ticketmaster. They cannot be re-sold.

The show is for people aged 16 upwards, and audiences are warned it contains adult content and language.

Shows are at 7pm and 9.45pm on Thursday, November 21, or 7pm on Saturday, February 15.

It’s not the only way audiences will be able to see Jimmy Carr this autumn.

He has been filming Last One Laughing, which will be screened on Amazon Prime next year.

The show challenges 10 comedians to spend a day without laughing, while trying to make the other nine have a giggle.

It is packed with comedy cameos, format twists and surprises designed to lure a smile from the players and belly laughs from viewers. The rules are simple: laugh and you’re out.

“Usually when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh – but not in this series,” Jimmy says.

“The last one laughing wins. It’s a great format and it’s been a huge hit around the world. I can’t wait to see who cracks up first.”
