James Acaster is set to bring his famously complicated love/hate relationship with stand-up comedy to more than 400 cinemas nationwide.
The two-hour feature, titled James Acaster: Cinemagoers Welcome, will be released exclusively in cinemas from Friday 6 March.
The film captures performances from the comedian’s Hecklers Welcome tour, recorded in Truro, Dublin, and Northampton.
In a bold departure from traditional comedy etiquette, the live tour saw heckling actively encouraged, allowing each show to mutate in real time based on audience interaction.
A bold experiment in comedy
The feature offers a front-row seat to moments that are chaotic, confrontational, and frequently exhilarating. By inviting disruption, James Acaster explores the limits of control and authorship on stage, resulting in three distinct performances shaped by the personality of each city.
Known for his surreal storytelling and subversion of comedy conventions, Acaster has become a defining figure in the industry. Beyond his Netflix specials and television appearances on Taskmaster and Would I Lie To You?, he is a major force in podcasting as the co-host of the hit show Off Menu.
On the upcoming cinema release, James Acaster joked:
Finally! I can attend a cinema screening of one of my own shows and heckle myself. See you there!
When is James Acaster: Cinemagoers Welcome coming to Reading, and how can I get tickets?
The exclusive comedy event will be screened at various locations in Reading from Friday, 6 March 2026. The film has a running time of 120 minutes.
Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, 28 February at 10am.
Fans can book through the official website at jamesacasterincinemas.com or via local cinema box offices.
