Fans of classic television and film themes are being invited to embrace their inner sofa-dweller as Not A Band head to Reading early next year with a live show built entirely around iconic 1980s screen soundtracks.
The band promise a night packed with familiar TV and film themes, knowingly chaotic humour and a heavy dose of nostalgia.
Billing themselves as “on the run” after committing a musical crime they definitely committed, Not A Band lean hard into the absurd, blending memes, themes and crowd-pleasing riffs into a live experience that refuses to take itself seriously.
According to the band’s tongue-in-cheek backstory, Not A Band were “found guilty of a musical crime that they DID commit” and now tour the UK and beyond guided only by “the power of theme tunes (and Google Maps)”.

It is a knowingly daft premise that fits neatly with a show rooted in recognisable music from 80s television and cinema.
Their YouTube channel is stuffed full of favourites including Chicken Man, the theme for both Grange Hill and Give Us A Clue, while their logo has nods to The A-Team.
Their humour has earned Not A Band praise from notable names. Portishead’s Geoff Barrow has described them as “possibly the greatest band ever”, while Barry from EastEnders has reportedly said: “BRILLIANT! Book ’em!”
Doors open at 8pm, with tickets available in advance via WeGotTickets.
